Silver City

For the month of February Brod had a rotation in Silver City, NM which is in the SW corner of the state, and of course the girls and I went with him! It is a chapter of life Brod and I will always look at each other, smile, and shake our heads about. We were able to have some adventures while we were there such as hiking through Whitewater Canyon, riding horses to see the petraglyphs, and going for the most beautiful drive through the mountains to see the old Indian Cave dwellings.

Carlsbad Caverns

Brod had a week long rotation in Roswell, New Mexico and we got to go with him! They put us up in a really nice hotel and it was such a fun get away. That weekend, we drove down to Carlsbad, New Mexico so we could go through the caverns. It has been something I've ALWAYS wanted to do because of my fascination with caves and when we found out we were moving to New Mexico it was on the top of our 'to do list'. It was seriously one of the neatest things I have ever explored. There were so many times I was just completely overwhelmed with the magnitude of those caverns. They went for miles in every direction. It took us almost 2 hours to descend 800 feet from the Natural Entrance into what they called the Big Room- another 3 miles around to explore. We were able to take the elevator back up that went so fast, you got up to the surface in 30 seconds! They had several guided tours so we took the one called "King's Palace" and when we walked into the "Queen's Chambers" I was awe-struck. Every step throughout the caverns was so juicy because they had it lit up with lights in different places and just to be walking through something that has been in the making since the dinosaur era was just amazing. No pictures would ever do it justice- so just take my word for it- it was mind blowing. We had a blast!!

I loved seeing the bald eagle- the other thing I wish I would've gotten a picture of was a western back rattlesnake. Every time we went up to the window it would rattle it's tail looking right at us- it was HUGE!

Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta

Albuquerque has the biggest hot air balloon festival in the world, so we decided to go on the night where they made them all glow! It was really neat and the girls loved it. I can't believe how many balloons there were in such amazing shapes and characters. The biggest surprise to me was how HUGE they were! It was really fun to experience.

They brought a Darth Vader balloon from Germany so they had Darth Vader himself walking around. Audrey got really close to him and said, "Wow Mom, he sure looks powerful with all of those buttons!"

When they blew up these balloons they had them facing eachother so it would look like they were kissing- they were so cute!The Noah's ark balloon was one of my favorites

Throughout the fiesta they had so many vendors selling the funnest things and of course, the best food! Afterwards, there was a firework show- it was the funnest night!

Trick or Treat!

We had SO MUCH FUN trick or treating this year because it's our first year being able to! For the last 4 years, we've been in Florida so we just had to resort to the trunk or treat. It was so much fun walking through our neighborhood as a little family seeing our girls so proud!

This man pretended to be fake and came alive when Audrey put her hand in the candy bowl. Of course I screamed and Audrey ran away SO fast and SO mad! She exclaimed, "I'm just a little girl!"

Santa Fe

We have been wanting to go to Santa Fe and so we did... by train! It was such a fun little adventure and my very first train ride! We all loved it! (By the way, every time I hear "Santa Fe" I think of the movie Newsies that my sister Jenn and I LOVED to watch. Christian Bale sings "Santa Fe" so I HAD to put this song to the post! So Jenn, this song is for you! :)

My sweet Alexia turned six on October 1st and we heard the countdown everyday before her special day. I feel so honored and blessed to be her mother. She is so special to me in so many ways, but I will just list my favorite 6 things about her right now: 1-She has THE most tender heart 2-She has the most obedient spirit and desires so much to make all of the right choices 3-She is so smart and LOVES to learn 4-Her best friend is Audrey 5-She's always trying to do things for me "so that I don't have to" 6-Her personality is so much fun- I just love being with her everyday! We had the most special day together on her birthday. Alexia, I love you sweetheart.

The day before her birthday, Audrey had a play group at our house, so we had a little party- they gave her the cutest gifts beginning with doll clothes for Boo. :)
So funny. I told Lex to give him a hug, but obviously, he had other ideas. Her face just makes me laugh!

More birthday shopping! I have to enjoy these years that the store she wants to go to in the mall is the disney store. :) It was so much fun making her day special and being able to spend every second of it with her!

Alexia then asked if her and Audrey could ride the carousel in the mall and after I said yes, I heard her tell Audrey, "Today Mom will let me do whatever I want... ya know, except for driving the car"

For her cake this year, Alexia wanted to bake it, so it's the activity that her and Brod did together

Alexia got to decorate it and write her name on it (with pink frosting of course) She was so proud

For her birthday dinner she wanted to go to KFC more than anywhere else :) She LOVES Brod's resident friends and invited them to come to her birthday dinner. Not only did they come, but they brought her gifts. It meant the world... to both of us.

Obviously, my favorite thing about going home is spending time with family. I just thought I'd post some extra pictures I had that portray that.

While I was home, I helped my Mom go through 32 years of pictures for a project! It was so fun to go down memory lane with her and re-live every memory imaginable! There were times we were laughing so hard, times when we were just freaking out about who were in pictures, and times we were crying as we re-lived the hard times as well. It was 3 weeks I'll never forget!
It was SO SPECIAL being able to meet Brady for the first time (Doug and Rebekah's baby) He is just precious and looks just like Doug!!

My dad and I were able to have a one on one together and they are the times I always look forward to! Seriously, the respect, adoration, gratitude, and love I have for him is beyond any words.

(Part of the conversation included Audrey sticking up for Cruella D'Ville saying that "she only wanted the dogs"- yes, she loves the villains in the Disney movies- I know, unbelievable.)

Grandma Atwood took us to a lady's ranch that has over 30 horses and we were able to ride them! It was the girl's first time, and my first time riding one alone! It was so much fun...I kinda wish that was the only way to get around again! :)

Oh my gosh, he made me laugh so hard. He was always popping up trying to see everything going on and making noises to get attention.

This little colt and Alexia really bonded- it was darling. She just fell in love with it, and anytime she stopped touching him, he'd squeeze his head through the bars so that she would keep petting him with that delicate little touch

Of course, Audrey insisted to ride all by herself, but her first reaction when we put her clear up there was a little unsure.
But then knowing she had all of the power to herself made her love every second of it. (Grandma Atwood actually led the horse, and after a time around, Audrey said, "I can go by myself, just give me the ropes (reigns)... I can handle it!") Maybe in a few more years Audrey.

The girls and I were able to go home to Idaho 2 weeks early before Brod came to spend another week, so needless to say, so many fun memories were made! There will be many more "Idaho" posts to come, but kicking them off, are Alexia, Audrey, Sadie, and Connor getting back together after 8 long months. Just today, Alexia was saying how much she misses Sadie and Connor. They had a blast! By the way, Alexia chose which song she wanted for this blog :)

Serendipity with Alexia

On Tuesday morning, Audrey's new little friend invited her to go play and of course she was so proud. So I was just going to drop Audrey off on my way to the gym with Alexia. I was all ready for the gym when we dropped off Audrey and Hunter's mom asked if Alexia would like to stay and play as well. She said, "No thanks, I want to stay with my mommy." I thought for sure she would have wanted to play! So her and I got into the car and I told Lex how cute I thought it was that she would choose to stay with me. Then I realized I had a rare opportunity to spend a one on one with Alexia- her and I are never just alone. I was torn though because I knew I probably wouldn't get back to the gym and it's hard enough as it is to go! However, I thought of the long run and I knew a special morning with my Alexia would be so much more special than a gym session. So I turned the car around and asked Alexia if she wanted to go home, get ready, and go get a pedicure together. Her whole face lit up and she squealed as she said, "of course I do Mommy!" So we went home and got "fancy" together. It melted my heart because she wanted to wear what she thinks is her fanciest shirt, put on dress up bracelets and and a ring. It was so much fun getting a pedicure together and we just talked and talked. She got to pick out her own color and the look on her face when her toes were done was worth everything. We had a half an hour to spare when we were done so we went and got a pop. My girls know it's a special day when they get their own! On the way to get Audrey she said, "This has been the best day ever. Thanks so much Mom, you're my best friend." She talked about it throughout the day and when I was tucking her in that night I heard the same sweet words. So much more rewarding than losing a few calories.

Brodie's birthday!

Brod had his birthday on Friday and even though he had to spend all day at the clinic, we still had such a fun day. It started with McDonalds breakfast in bed (at 6:45 am) and I woke up the girls so they could sing with me to make it that much more special. (o.k., so that I didn't have to hear myself sing alone with the wake up voice) We had little surprises waiting for him in his car and then at lunch we were able to pick him up and go to Pizza Hut. Then around 3pm we went to his clinic with a balloon bouquet and a cake for him and the rest of the residents and office staff. The girls were so excited to deliver them and we were just going to leave it at the front desk, but the receptionist said that all of the residents were in the middle of a seminar and opened the door so we could deliver them in person! After he was done, we went shopping, had dinner, and then got some xbox games for Brod and I to play when the girls went to bed. Brod turned 30 today and it actually made me so excited because it made me realize that I have so many more milestones to share with him in our lives together. I'm so grateful for him and love him more than I could ever say! Happy birthday honey!!

4th of July weekend

We had such a fun 4th of July weekend because Brod's parents came to spend it with us as well as his sister Brooke. We went to a parade, had a bbq by the pool, watched the fireworks off our balcony, and had a little fireworks show of our own. I love the time we have with Brod's family and I'm so glad they came!!

At the parade, Atwoods ran into someone they knew! So we all got introduced and of course the kids became instant friends.

Our recent move to New Mexico was a 3 full day road trip which was actually really fun! After 7 states and 32 hours later we arrived at our new home here in Albuquerque, New Mexico! We made memories along the way which were so fun. Brodie's dad followed us with the U-Haul and brought his walkie talkies so that we could comment about different things and be able to talk to eachother. It was actually such a gorgeous drive through the southern staes that I didn't do anything I brought to do because I didn't want to miss any of the scenery! Our second night, we stayed in New Orleans with one of my good friends Desiree and her 2 little girls. She was a wonderful hostess and travel guide! She showed us all around New Orleans such as the lower ninth ward which got hit the worst by Hurricane Katrina. It was so hard to see. You could see the holes in the roofs of several homes in which the people had to try and escape from so they didn't drown in their house. There were X's on the front of the homes where the rescuers swept the homes in search of survivors. There was a number on the top of the X which signified the number of people found alive and a number on the bottom which told the number of people found dead. It was so sad to just be in the middle of it and see so many of the residents still trying to live in their homes. Then she took us to the French Quarter and it was so much more of what I pictured New Orleans to be. It was so neat to see all of the original architecture and walk around and see Bourbon Street. Desiree had an amazing connection with the restaurants there from her job, so we ate at Original Pierre Maspero's. It is said that slaves were sold from the balcony here during the height of the city's brief slave trade. The restaurant is on the ground floor of one of the city's oldest buildings, dating from 1788; the menu claims that Andrew Jackson planned from here the defense of the Battle of New Orleans, in which he led American troops to victory over British soldiers. The inside has the original brick and architecture so eating there was so fun. Des also knew the chef "Chef Nick" and so he personally cooked our food and gave us the V.I.P treatment. It was so good. I loved being able to spend a night with Des and my girls were so excited to see her girls again! The whole road trip was everything I thought it would be! It was so exciting to show the girls our new home and start the unpacking process. Albuquerque is a whole new world from Fort Lauderdale: mountains instead of the ocean, dry air instead of the humidity, and dry land instead of lakes everywhere. It's such a fun change though, and we love our new city. We are at the base of a beautiful mountain range and overlook the city. The girls are so proud to still have a swimming pool in the backyard and I'm so proud just to be in a home after 8 1/2 years! We are ready and excited to start our new life here!!

I can't believe that my baby is already 4 years old! When we moved here to Florida she was 5 weeks old and here we are leaving and now she's a little girl. Even though we are right in the middle of moving, we took the day off to make sure that her day was a special one. She loved the fact that she was officially the queen for the day! On Saturday we took her to the disney store so that she could get ideas for what she wanted and she was just making Brod and I laugh. Her arms were so full of things and I saw something on sale and so I showed her. She looked at it and while she was chewing her gum and holding the world, she simply said, "I'll take it". Obviously by the end, she just had to show us her 3 favorite things and then hoped for them the next 2 days. :) The morning of her birthday I knelt down and prayed to express how grateful I am that she was sent to me. She adds so much life, joy, and tenderness to our family. I love her in a way that can only be described as a mother's love. Happy birthday to my sweet heart, I love you Audrey.

Brodie's sister Brooke and her husband Matt came to stay with us for 10 days and it was so much fun. They definitely took our minds off of the upcoming move and we laughed about how they were the calm before the storm. We loved having them in our home with us- they are SO MUCH FUN to be around. Us four have such an amazing relationship- just so fun and comfortable. We made the best memories, but the funnest one is our get away to Key West. The girls stayed overnight with their friends and we took off for Key West and started it off with a snorkeling expedition. We took a beautiful boat ride out to a reef in Rock Key and made memories that will just be kept between us.. :) It was really an amazing experience holding Brod's hand and snorkeling out to the reef where we saw barracuda, tarpon, and the most beautiful colored fish. Matt and Brooke saw a nurse shark as well! 10 days were gone before we knew it and we're so excited that we will be closer to them once we move out west. More long weekends have already been planned! :)

After we went back and showered and got ready at the hotel we went down Duval Street and ate at the Hard Rock- it was the PRETTIEST evening- the weather was perfect!

Yum. Key lime pie at the Key Lime Pie Factory- my favorite was "Pie on a Stick" where a slice of key lime pie is frozen and covered in chocolate and you can eat it like a popsicle. Amazing.

Brooke and I had to grab a girl's day out midway through the week for some much needed pampering and girl talk! (that went on much longer than planned :)
We also took a day to go canoeing down part of the Loxahatchee River to look for turtles, birds, crabs, but most of all gators!

So pretty- it's one of my VERY favorite things I have done in Florida

Our week with Grandma and Grandpa Atwood!

Steve and Colette came to stay with us for a week for Brod's graduation and we had a blast! We made the funnest memories riding on an airboat through the Everglades, driving through the keys, getting wet from a killer whale, eating the most amazing food at the funnest restaurants, night swimming, collecting sea shells in Sanibel Island off the Gulf of Mexico, fishing, shopping, and just being together. One of my favorite nights was when we all played Guitar Hero. I was on the drums, Brod on the lead guitar, Colette on the bass guitar, and Steve singing in the microphone. In fact, it was Hotel California which is why this song is playing and I just have to say, I was dying when Steve started singing! Seriously, he sounded better than the original!! I had no idea he had a good voice and I was laughing and trying to play the drums because I couldn't get over how good he sounded! I am so blessed with the in-laws I have and I've known that since the day Brod and I got married! Not only are they SO MUCH FUN to be with but they are the most amazing grandparents to the girls and the most amazing parents to Brod and me. I'm so grateful they came and that we got to make these memories that will last forever!

I couldn't miss posting the fun night before Brod's graduation. My parents came into Fort Lauderdale and we all met them at their beach front hotel. We were able to play in the ocean, swim, and have a pizza party. Brod and I loved every minute our parents were able to be together and needless to say, we had a BLAST! Brod is so blessed with the in-laws he has :) and I'm so blessed with mine! It was the best combination and the best of both worlds! We were so happy they both came all this way to celebrate such a milestone of our lives with us! We love you!!

The day Brodie and I have been waiting and working for finally came...9 years in the making! Brod graduated from Dental School here in south Florida at Nova Southeastern University. It was such an emotional day for several reasons. The sense of accomplishment, relief, and arrival were overwhelming. It has been a long road but today made it all worth it. Needless to say, I am so proud of Brod. Never in my life have I seen a harder worker with so much resolve and determination to accomplish his goals. He had the perfect balance of being a student, husband, and father. It was so cute because as we were getting ready to leave for the graduation Brod told me that he wished I could wear a hat and gown today because I deserve just as much credit. :) However, I was perfectly content sitting in the crowd just beaming with pride for my graduate. Brod's parents and my parents were there at the ceremony which made it so much more special and it meant more to me than they will ever know. This was one of those days, those milestones, that will always be remembered- up there with my wedding day and the days my girls were born. Thank you to all of our wonderful family and your support. Your thoughts, texts, calls, etc. made our day and meant so much. I can't believe Brod is officially Dr. Atwood! :)

House Hunting in New Mexico

Brod and I were able to fly to Albuquerque for the week to look for housing. It was one of the funnest trips I've ever taken! It was so fun exploring our new city for the first time! It started out with our hotel upgrading our room to a suite- just because we asked- and everything just went up from there! It was so fun to choose which homes we wanted to look at because the realtor would just give us up to 5 keys at a time to go look for ourselves. So with sonics in one hand, and keys in the other, we were just free to explore on our own. We were also able to fit in a Dave Matthews Band concert, taking the tram to the top of the mountain at sunset, eating so much mexican food, and going to the temple. To top everything off, we found our house!! We are just renting it for now, but it's exactly where we wanted to live- at the base of the mountains 3 miles from the temple! How we found it was nothing short of a blessing. I just don't know if we'll know what to do with stairs, a garage, a laundry room, and our own yard! :) It was so fun to come back to the girls at the end of the week, but the time Brod and I had together in our new city only made my feelings for him and for our best friendship even stronger!

The DMB concert was an absolute blast. It was played at the journal pavilion which is up in the mountains, so when the sun went down you could see all of the city lights
They put on the most amazing concert- they are one of Brod's favorite bands and after this concert I LOVE them too!

We were able to fit in a matinee at a dollar theatre and saw Confessions of a Shopoholic- it was darling!
This was the night we rode the tram to the top of the mountain- and here we are at the base, ready to go up!
At the top it was breathtaking! I have always LOVED city lights and I couldn't get over how gorgeous that view was.
There's a restaurant at the top that is called High Finance..and because of that reason, we shared nachos:)

It was so special going through the temple. Every time I go I realize how hard it's been to live away from one. Brod graduates next week and we leave Florida June 19! At least now, we know where we'll be moving to!

We were able to go on our first little family vacation! We went up to Orlando for 5 days/4 nights and each had 2 disney park tickets. We chose to use them on the Magic Kingdom, so we ended up going there twice. It was so special in every way. The girls truly felt like the princesses they are and Brod and I loved watching their every reaction. When we moved here to Florida we knew that before we left 4 years later, we would take a family vacation to Disney World, and I just can't believe how fast it came. I'm so grateful we were able to spend this time together. It was such a bonding and magical experience!

In fact, we walked back to the castle because she said it was time for her to "go home" She really did hold her dress out as she walked- it was so cute to see her completely enveloped in her own little magical world.

That night at the electrical light parade Audrey waved at everyone- Snow White even came up to her and blew her a kiss! (I wouldn't have been able to resist either)
I can't begin to describe how magical and amazing our little vacation was together. I'm just so grateful for my 2 little princesses and for my handsome prince. :) I'm so grateful we had this time together and for how much deeper our family bond is because of it.

Spring Break, Easter 2009

It was so fun to have Brod for a couple of weeks without any school! The days were filled going to the pool, shopping, getting pops, movie parties, going out to lunch, and probably the funnest memory for the girls was when we went bowling. It was their first time going and they had a blast! Easter also fell over Brod's spring break and, as always, it was a special day. The girls were so excited to see if the easter bunny came and it was nice to have them old enough to teach them the real reason we celebrate easter. We LOVE the times we get Brod all to ourselves!!

The time of the year that I always look forward to happened last week! My Dad, Mom, and Whitney were able to come spend time with us here in Florida for Whitney's spring break. I was honestly in heaven the entire time and cherished every second I had with them. Brod took his boards (the clinical test we've heard about for the last 4 years) while they were here and instead of it being the stressful experience we have heard about, my amazing family made it a special one. I'm so thankful for the time they were here and for the memories we made that I will never forget.

We threw Brod a Congratulations party after the second day of his boards when he was all done- it made it so special
Okay, Brod and I were able to go to the funnest restaurants with my parents and everytime, the food was AMAZING! (It probably had to do with the company we were with!)
Of course, we had our pop runs to RaceTrac! Our mugs look huge, but they hold about 32 oz and keep the ice and pop cold ALL DAY!
My Mom, Whitney and I were able to have an afternoon together and we ate at my very favorite mexican restaurant and then went shopping!
The women at Rachel's (a boutique type store) couldn't get over how gorgeous my mom was! I was real proud!... but not surprised!
My Dad and Brod went to the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami and watched Andy Roddick and Roger Federer play!

While the boys were in Miami, the girls went to Wannado City! (An indoor theme park where the kids can do any grown up job and get paid for it) The girls were so excited to go with Whitney!

Then they were anchors and the weatherman on CNN. They were really on the t.v.s around and we got the dvd to take home- it was so cute (Whitney did so good with the weather- she sounded darling)

Then they had the hard job of being a model! The parents had to sit in the chairs next to the catwalk while the girls went in the back and got changed. Then the music started and thier names were announced. When they heard their name, they came out, walked the runway and struck a pose!

General Conference

I wanted to record my thoughts and feelings at this time as I just finished watching the last session of General Conference. I have been overwhelmed with the power and Spirit in which the messages were delivered. How blessed I am to have such a wonderful and perfect gospel as the center of my life. The blessings associated with it are endless. It leaves me with a feeling of deep humility as I wonder how I got so blessed to have the truth and the knowledge of the gospel in my life. I know the way to be happy. I know of the life after this one. I know that I will be with my family forever. I know, stronger than I know anything, that I have a Father in Heaven who loves me and is there listening every time I pray and that I have a Savior and Redeemer who suffered above all and gave His life so that I can return and live with Him again. I owe everything I have and everything I am or will become to my Savior. I cherish my relationship with my Heavenly Father- I always have- and that to, is attributed and because of my Savior. I have felt His love and hold such experiences sacred in my heart. I am so grateful for a living prophet along with the apostles. It is so comforting to know that however corrupt or wrong the political world can become, because of the prophet and the apostles we will never be led astray. Listening to Conference was simply amazing. My desire to become a better person in every aspect of my life was strengthened and my desire to live the gospel in every way, was renewed. I'm so grateful that despite my imperfections I have the ability to continue striving to become who I need to be. In the world right now with it's morals declining and belief in Deity questioned, I'm grateful for the sure foundation in which, through the gospel, my life stands.

Oh, the things they say!

Obviously, our move to New Mexico has been in the forefront of our minds, so when we were at the new Amazon exhibit at the Miami Zoo, totally out of the blue Alexia exclaimed, (somewhat desperately) "How are we supposed to understand Spanish when we move to New Mexico?!" It made me smile because I really wonder if they have made the separation from Mexico to New Mexico in their minds.

On Sunday night, as a family, we were looking through all of the pamphlets and visitor information for Albuquerque that Brod brought back with him from his interview. In the first couple of pages it showed the formal pictures of the mayor and the other "state leaders".
Alexia: "Who are they?"
Me: "Who do you think they are?"
Alexia: "Maybe the prophets of New Mexico?"
It was so funny because they were in their suits and looked like they could have been in the Ensign.

Recently, whenever Alexia makes Audrey mad, she has been saying, "Fine! You can't be my best friend anymore!" Of course, by now, she knows that she's not allowed to say that. Well, the other day I was in the family room when Lex did something that made Audrey mad and I could tell she was ready to say that but when she saw me, she changed what she said, and I about died. She yelled, "Wex! (lex) You are just not my type!" Then she looked at me and mumbled, "you're still my best friend" but then of course had to add, "But you are just not my type!"

Yesterday, the girls were building a fort with all of their blankets and so Alexia was trying to move the couch. Pretty soon, she came running into the kitchen and said, "mommy, can you hurry and make me some green beans?" When I asked why she answered, "because I need my muscles to grow so I can move the couch!"

The last time we were in Utah, Alexia was begging me if we could stay longer. I answered by saying, "I'll see". She said, "please don't see!!" I guess she already knows what that means! :)

When we were at the beach a man rode by on his bike that had a tatoo covering his whole back. Audrey looked at me with the widest eyes and yelled, "that man colored all over heeself!"

Sentimental thoughts

I had a day this week that I really had no where to be or any responsibilities and Brod had the car, so the girls and I had all day together. We had breakfast, went for a walk to get a pop and a little treat, read the library books they checked out yesterday, the girls gave me a "makeover" with all of their pretend makeup and jewelry, we played games, we colored, and then they both helped me make dinner. I don't know if it's because I know this chapter that the girls and I are in right now is almost to a close or if it's because for the past 3 1/2 years, it's just been us 3 together all day every day across the country from family, but as I wrote in my journal that night I became very emotional. I would probably be able to express my feelings better if I just write what was written that night: "I couldn't help but think that 10 years from now days like today are going to seem like they were from another life. That sounds so dramatic but I know things will be so busy that it will be hard to believe that I had a day where my only responsibility was to color. To snuggle and read books. To play games, go on a walk, and to watch the girl's little shows with them. Realizing this is actually the cause for the tears streaming down my face right now. I know the girls are only going to keep making me happier and happier the older they get but I am also well aware- heart-achingly aware- that this little precious, pure, innocent, untouched by the world stage they're in right now won't last forever. I am their world right now. They don't need any friends, video games, sports, BOYS, etc, etc... just Mommy, and each other. The little 3 musketeers every day all day long. Since it has taken me longer than planned to get pregnant and the fact that I'm still not pregnant makes me so grateful how close in age and in friendship Alexia and Audrey are. They are the lights of my life and their distinct little personalities bring smiles to my face all day long. I love how during this stage that I am their world, but they will always be mine."

Simple Pleasures

After the Miami Zoo we stopped and got the girls an ice cream cone. They wanted to sit at their own table together and it was so cute to look over and see them completely engaged in their own little conversations and then just start giggling. I thought how darling it was that something so little as getting an ice cream cone together would make them as proud as they were. They were being such best little friends that I had to run to the car for the camera because I never wanted to forget their little moment together.

Our weekend get away

Brod and I were able to get away this last weekend and it turned out being one of those dream weekends. The girls had a sleepover at their friend’s house and Brod and I spent the weekend in Orlando. We left Friday morning and had the whole drive just to talk uninterrupted and I loved seeing all of the orange groves on our way. We spent the day in Epcot traveling “the world”. It was so fun because we sampled food from almost every country there! It has been something I’ve wanted to do with Brod ever since we moved here and it was just amazing being able to just hold hands, take our time, and not have a care in the world. (No pun intended) Then Saturday we were able to go to the Orlando temple. It is such a beautiful temple on such beautiful grounds. Once we were inside I was overwhelmed with how happy I was and how at home I felt. Brod and I left feeling uplifted, inspired, and so grateful to have the gospel in our lives and the endless blessings it brings. It was a perfect weekend in every way- I was able to “get away”, bond with my best friend, know that my girls were in such good hands, and come home feeling rejuvenated in every way.

Getting shocks

When Alexia had to go in to get her 5 year old shots, I tried preparing her beforehand. Apparently, Audrey had been listening and in an exasperated voice said, "Do I have to have shocks?!" It sounded so funny and the name stuck. In fact, when the doctor came in Audrey looked right at him and declared, "I don't have to have shocks today." Alexia did so well- she's always been unbelievably brave. She had to have 4- all separately and she was still smiling at us after shot number 3 trying to stay so brave.

This was right after all of her shots- we were so proud of her! Afterwards, we took her to the disney store and she got to pick out a treasure.

This is my FAVORITE Sunday tradition! Audrey and I take a nap together after church and I seriously look forward to it all during church! I always ask, "are you ready to be my favorite teddy bear?" and she just grins- she's SO SNUGGLY!
I came into my bedroom a little later than Brod one night and this is what I saw!
Why are they so angelic and precious when they sleep? I know that every mom has felt her heart melt when they have watched one of their kids sleeping- I love it.

I have been going through a little personal trial, and to go through one across the country from your family is hard. However, on Friday I had a knock on the door and saw the most beautiful arrangement of flowers- I've never been so surprised. They were from my sister Jenn and of course the message on the card made me cry and brightened my whole day. When I called to thank her she explained that she felt so strongly to send me flowers and exactly what to say on the card. Jenn has always had that precious ability to cheer me up or support me through a hard time.
So Jenn, thanks for being my angel.

Happy Valentine's Day 2009

That night Brodie cooked for me and we had a candle light dinner on our balcony: Crab legs, sourdough bread, rice pilaf, shrimp scampi, and chocolate covered strawberries for dessert!

Grandpa Atwood comes to Florida!

We were able to spend the funnest, most amazing week with Grandpa Atwood! We really had so much fun together eating, fishing, driving through the Keys, eating some more, collecting sea shells in Sanibel Island, touring Fort Lauderdale from a boat, going to Butterfly World and laughing so hard watching American Idol! We are all so grateful he came so that we could make memories we'll never forget!

One night we went and ate at the Melting Pot- it was the first time for all of us and it was AMAZING!
For the "4th course" you got to choose your chocolate fondue and they brought out a dessert plate full of delicious things to dip into the chocolate!

Okay, so I thought it was worth another picture :)
We drove through the Keys all the way to Key West- it's one of my favorite things to do here. The drive is just beautiful! Once you get to Key Largo you feel like you're in the Carribean with the aqua blue water all around and it has such an "island" feel

Of course we had to stop and get some key lime pie!!
On the way home, we stopped at this sports bar restaurant on one of the keys and for the appetizers, we tried GATOR and CONCH!! They were surprisingly delicious! Seriously!!

It was the perfect setting to try those foods- it was the juiciest feel!

By the time we got home from such a big day, the girls were worn out!
Fort Lauderdale is known as the "Venice of America" and one day we took the water taxi through all of the intercoastal waterways through the city- and on one of the boats, Audrey went to the captain and asked in her tiny darling voice if she could sit on his lap. Of course she got to, and helped drive! She even honked the horn a couple of times!

Afterwards, we took a walk along the beach and I had to capture my little posers!

When we found out that Brod got accepted into his residency, it was so fun that Steve was able to be here because we had to go out and celebrate together!

We have never been to Butterfly World since living here, but have always heard how amazing it is, so we all went together
Once you walked in, it felt like you were in some kind of magical fairy land- the most beautiful butterflies fluttering all around you with gorgeous flowers, waterfall, etc.

There was a place that you could feed these birds and Lex was so nervous at first
But then got SO brave and absolutely loved it!! (Audrey did it too, and was fine when one bird came over, but then 4 flew over to her at the same time and she started bawling)

And OF COURSE we did lots of fishing and Steve caught 2 monster large mouth bass

Grandpa, we love you so much and miss you already!! On the way home from the airport when we dropped Grandpa off, Audrey said, "my heart is broken". We all knew exactly what she meant! Thank you so much for coming out- we had an absolute blast!
