Today is my mom's birthday and since I can't be there with her to celebrate, I wanted to publish a post about how she is the most amazing woman I have ever known. All of you who know her know exactly what I mean! Her talents, darling attributes, and the ways in which she blesses her family's life are countless. She truly is my shining example and I have always told her that if I can be half the mother that she is, than I would have it made. Here are 10 of my favorite things about her: (in no particular order of course)
1. She is ALWAYS positive. It doesn't matter if she's sick, or just had surgery, or stressed, she is always happy and that wonderful gift has always blessed her children's lives.
2. She is one of the most service-oriented people I have ever known. She's always putting herself last and thinking of what she can do for her kids, her husband, the sisters in her ward, etc. When any of us kids go and stay at her house, she completely caters to us and puts our rest and comfort above her own. (For example, keeping our kids quiet if we are still resting)
3. Her personality is not only SO MUCH FUN but so incredibly darling. She always makes you laugh and if you have something to tell her, she cares about it as much as you do!
4. Her spirituality is truly inspirational. Her children were raised knowing how much she loves Heavenly Father and that we could talk to Him about anything. I can remember so many times growing up, walking into her room and seeing her on her knees by her bedside and how it touched me knowing that she really was talking to our Heavenly Father and how much she loved doing so.
5. She is the best friend to each one of her children. I always tell her that it's unbelievable that every single one of us really thinks of her as our best friend. We have just always felt her true mother's love in our lives and we all know we can tell her anything. We don't even care what we are doing with her, just as long as we were with her. She would always tell us that's the way she feels with her own mom.
6. She has a gift of tenderness. She is currently in the compassionate service in her ward and the way she handles individual sisters and situations is so tender and they can feel of her sincere love, just as us kids have all our lives.
7. Did I mention how much fun she is to be around? She'll get in silly moods with us, stay up late with us when we're all staying at her house, and she makes everything fun no matter what it is.
8. She had the perfect balance of being a parent and a friend to all of her kids. We knew what she expected of us and because of our love and respect for her, we never wanted to do anything that would disappoint her. She sought council from heaven on our behalf and was led by the Spirit in raising us.
9. She is the cutest grandma! She takes the grand kids for little treats, plays games with
them, and LOVES snuggle them and always points out the cute little characteristics about each one of them.
10. She loves her family more than anything else. We always knew how happy she was to stay at home with us and we always knew we were her top priority. I love you Mom, and I hope you have such a special day.
Happy Birthday Mom!

That was so sweet to do a post about mom! Everything is so true what you said. She is amazing and we are so blessed to have her as our mom. That is why we are the way we are. We are so lucky to have such a perfect example of how not to just be a mom but a good person. The difference being mom will "make it" and I am not so sure about me!! Anyway, that was really sweet! Love you - Jenn
You're mom sounds so awesome!! I wish my mom and I had a closer bond, but I still love her so much!! I hope my kids grow up to feel about me the way you feel about your mom. You brought tears to my eyes. Thanks for the post.
What a sweet sweet post. You are following right along in her footsteps! Thanks for your sweet comment! Love you!
That was so sweet Jess. Everything that is you said is so true. Your mom is an angel. I have always felt so close to her. I remember always wanting to be at your house bc she made it so homey and she always made everything so fun. She is amazing--I feel blessed to be her niece. We are lucky to have such great examples of mothers--I think we have the two greatest. And Jess--you really are following right in her footsteps! Love you.
Jess -- Such a fun gift to give the credit on your mom's birthday! Andrea did it for me and it was so fun to read and not be shifty. Wow. To write about Nancy I don't know where to begin. I loved everything you wrote about her because you really highlighted the things she loves most: her family and Heavenly Father. She is so incredibly selfless. Her family is her life. She always drops everything she may need or want to do to be with and serve her children. She is each of your best friends which is amazing to be equally close to all of your kids but she has managed to do it. (You are all so obsessed!) She is SO fun to be with. I am laughing right now thinking of some of her nuances when she gets "soft". She is always happy and positive and you always leave feeling happy after you have spent time with her. She inspires you to want to be better, but is never self. I asked Jenn the other day, "Please tell me your mom went psycho sometimes!" She said, "Never." I'll never measure up . . . because the bar has been set so high. I am just so thankful for her example. And, it's true. All of you daughters will be just like her. Love you, Nancy! and Love you, Jess!
That was such a nice post. Your mom is amazing, it is so important to have great support. Moms are the best :)
Such a TRUE post...in every sense of the word. I love your mom so much... she really is the best mother-in-law. If you think she is a dream as a mom, think how even more of a gift to have her as the mother of your husband. I feel so lucky to have such a great relationship with Nancy, she really is a friend. And I can never express enough how grateful I am for how she raised Doug... I too hope that I can be a mother like her to my children. Thanks for taking the time to give her credit!
Love you,
Rebekah
Your blog is so cute! It makes me really want another girl. Girls are so adorable and fun. It also makes me miss Florida. I wish Missoni and I could have been on the beach with you drinking some fun fruit drinks having a girls day out! Love ya!
