We have a beautiful lake outside our apartment that we have loved looking at it outside our window everyday. However, now we love it because we started fishing in it! It's been really fun to do as a family! We first go to the live bait shop to get bait, and then take out our beach chairs by the lake with treats. I have to admit, though, that probably the main reason it's so much fun is how excited Brod gets about the whole process. When I catch one, he acts like I just hit the jackpot in Vegas, so I get real proud. The girls love helping by catching the live bait (little shiners) with the little net out of the bucket, and Alexia really does believe that she is Brod's good luck charm. Just one more thing we'll miss when it's time to leave...
Audrey was so brave with all of it! She saw Brod put his finger in the mouth and she wanted to do that too!
Brod with his snook- it was the biggest fish I've ever seen caught!
Alexia wasn't too sure about it at first- but after seeing Audrey with so many she had to try it!
Okay, this was the peacock bass that I caught and Brod insisted that I get a picture with it. I guess his family got a kick out of the fact that I'm holding it with the least amount of fingers as possible. Brod was really sent over because I kept saying, "it's moving!" while he was trying to get the camera on.
Brod with his large mouth bass (it's obvious that Brod told me all of the names because they would all look the same to me!)
Daddy's good luck charm!
You should have seen the one that got away...

Okay I felt so many emotions during that entry. First, how darling it is that you guys do that together as a family. Second, it blows my mind that your girls will have anything to do with live bait and touching fish. So brave! Third, you are such a supportive wife, if Matt wanted me to fish (especially with live bait I would bawl). And, Last you held the fish. The only way I would hold it is... well...passes to Thunder Ridge - remember that is how dad got us to hold that snake!! Anyway it was so cute that you guys are all so alike and do the funnest things together. I am so excited I get to see you guys soon. Especially those girls of yours. Love you!
It is funny, but everything on your blog are the things I miss most about FL, Hollywood Beach, the zoo, fishing, Grand Lux.
You guy look like you are having a blast. -Heidi
How fun!! We get to fish in the river right behind our house. It is a great family activity. I LOVE the picture of you holding your fish. That is hilarious! Where is Brodie going to practice when you are all done?
That made me laugh how you said of course brodie had to tell you the names of the fish or else you wouldn't have known because they all look the same... that is exactley how it would be for me, I would have no clue what they were. What a fun family activity, you always do the funnest things. and of course you have a lake behind your apartment, you always have the juiciest views!
love you,
Rebekah
you have a beautiful family! Nice fish by the way!!
Hey this is Jerry. Great pics... now the only thing missing is a picture of a tarpon. Whenever Brodie wants to go, have hime give me call and I'll provide bait!
Those pictures are SO precious. You are so good about capturing the cutest moments! I can't handle that I get to see you in a few weeks!!! I miss you SO much and can't wait to see your girls! Love you Jess!!!
Hey Jess! Its Amy Jorgensen. I found your blog through Janae's and just wanted to say HI! You've got an adorable family and I love the fishing pictures...I won't even touch them :)
Oh my gosh! I enjoyed every minute of that post- because we went to that lake with you guys and it was so much fun, but also because it's so darling that you do it as a family! That is so much fun and I can only imagine how much fun you have! Also because I laughed several times looking through the pictures- just how proud your girls are with the fish- they are SO CUTE! And the one I laughed the hardest about is the one of you holding the fish and I read what you put about holding it with the least amount of fingers possible (and telling Brod that it was moving)- I can just picture it! You are so cute! We miss you guys so much and it will be so much fun to see you! Love you Jess, Krys
Jess -- Oh my gosh. I can't handle Audrey's little face holding that fish. It really is so brave. Your family has had the cutest, funnest adventures. It really has been such a chapter in your life that you will never forget. You really are the cutest wife just doing things for Brodie. He is So lucky. I was laughing at your official names for those fish! Unbelievable! You have such a darling family, Jessica. I wish I could be around you guys more. The blog is so fun to share memories and feel like I am getting to know your precious girls. You are such a sweet mom, Jess. I hope I get to see you for two seconds when you pass through! LOVE YOU
Jess- I can't believe that you held that fish with out squealing- or was there squealing? What a fun day! Your girls are so beautiful!!!!
